How to set a No-Go Zone on a Samsung Jet Bot
How to Set a No-Go Zone on Samsung Jet Bot Robotic Vacuum
Samsung Jet Bot robotic vacuums allow you to create No-Go Zones to restrict cleaning in specific areas of your home. Whether it's to avoid cords, pet zones, or delicate furniture, this feature ensures your robot cleans efficiently while staying out of unwanted spaces.
1. What Is a No-Go Zone on Samsung Jet Bot?
A No-Go Zone is a designated area that your Samsung Jet Bot will avoid during cleaning sessions. This feature uses advanced AI object recognition and mapping technology to identify restricted areas and prevent the robot from entering them.
- Prevent the robot from getting stuck on cords, toys, or clothing.
- Restrict cleaning in pet zones or areas with hazards like fireplaces.
- Exclude entire rooms or specific furniture from cleaning.
2. Supported Samsung Jet Bot Devices
This feature is available on the following Samsung Jet Bot models:
- Samsung Jet Bot
- Samsung Jet Bot AI+
3. Why Use No-Go Zones?
Samsung Jet Bot uses deep learning AI and 3D sensors to recognize over 1 million images, enabling it to clean around objects like furniture and appliances while avoiding hazards like pet waste or glass items. By setting No-Go Zones, you ensure the robot follows the most efficient cleaning path using its LiDAR sensor technology.
4. How to Set a No-Go Zone Using the SmartThings App
To create a No-Go Zone, your Jet Bot must first map your home using the SmartThings app. Follow these steps:
- Open the SmartThings app on your smartphone or tablet.
- Connect to your Jet Bot robotic vacuum.
- Select the "No-Go Zone" option in the app interface.
- Tap and drag to draw the restricted area on the map.
- Save the changes to apply the No-Go Zone.
Note: The Clean Station cannot be set as a No-Go Zone. If the Jet Bot does not start from the Clean Station or the station's location changes, it may clean the restricted areas.
5. Recommended Areas for No-Go Zones
Consider setting No-Go Zones in the following areas:
- Furniture with gaps underneath (e.g., cabinets, sofas).
- Around fireplaces or heaters.
- Floors with height differences less than 5 cm (e.g., bathrooms, porches).
- Carpets with fibers longer than 2.5 cm.
- Personal areas you want the robot to avoid.
6. Using Boundary Strips for No-Go Zones
Boundary strips are physical markers that help your Jet Bot avoid certain areas. Attach them to spots where the robot might fall, encounter steps, or get stuck on furniture.
Where to Place Boundary Strips:
- Steps that are 5 cm or lower.
- Door sills that are 1.5 cm or higher.
- Avoid sliding doors, swinging doors, pots, heaters, fireplaces, or areas with fire/moisture.
- Avoid areas with fall risks like stairs, porches, or railings.
7. How to Set Up Boundary Strips
Place the boundary strips 15 cm away from the area you want to avoid and arrange them in a "ㄷ" shape.
Note: Additional boundary strips can be purchased at a Samsung service center.
8. Additional Things to Check
Ensure your SmartThings app and device software are updated to the latest version. The feature requires a Wi-Fi connection and is compatible with Android 6.0+ (minimum 2GB RAM) and iOS 10.0+ (iPhone 6 or higher).
